Allentown Bicycle Motorcycle Crash Leaves 13 Year Old Injured

On August 30, a 13 year old girl who was riding her bike in Allentown was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash.  Reports indicate that the motorcycle rider and bicycle rider collided at Lehigh and Eighth Streets around 8 p.m.  The motorcyclist allegedly fled the scene of the accident but was found about 20 minutes later.

The motorcyclist is facing charges for a hit and run accident involving injuries and may be facing other charges in relation to this Pennsylvania bike accident.

The 13 year old was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest with injuries.

12 year old Jacob Capobianco and his family have had a difficult couple of weeks.   About three weeks ago Jacob Capobianco suffered a minor leg injury when he was hit by a car while riding his bike on Fourth Street in Bridgeport. 

Then on June 22, Jacob was again hit by a car while riding his bike on Fourth Street.  This time, Jacob wasn’t as lucky.  The driver of the car stopped and drove Jacob the block to the Bridgeport Police Station where police tended to Jacob and arranged for an airlift to Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia.

We extend our best wishes to Jacob for a full and fast recovery from his Pennsylvania bike accident injuries.

Fatal Philadelphia Bicycle Accident Results in Arrest

A Havertown man has been charged with vehicular manslaughter after driving drunk and killing a bicyclist in Philadelphia on December 30, 2010.  Police report that Mr. Paul Jones hit the bicyclist from behind at approximately 10:30 on Baltimore Avenue.  Mr. Jones reportedly left the scene of the Philadelphia bike accident and crashed into a minivan and fled the scene of that accident.  The occupants of the minivan were not injured.

The victim’s name has not yet been released.  We extend our condolences to the family during this difficult time.

12 Year Old Injured by Coca Cola Truck

On Thursday December 23, a 12 year old boy was hit by a Coke truck while riding his bike to school on the day before winter vacation.

The accident happened when the boy was crossing the intersection of Makefield and Big Oaks Roads in Makefield  just before 7:30 a.m.

The child, whose name has not been released, suffered bruises and a head injury in this Pennsylvania tractor trailer accident.  He is recovering at Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia.

Two Hit and Run Accidents Strike Philly Over the Weekend

Philadelphia was the scene of two serious hit and run accidents this past weekend.  The first accident occurred around 8:20 Saturday night at the intersection of Sixth Street and Washington Avenue in South Philadelphia.  Dianica Leone and her two year old son Derek Martinez were crossing the street when they were hit by a silver Mercedes.  Derek was killed in the accident.  Dianica is at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania with traumatic injuries.

The second accident occurred around 7:30 Sunday night.  Two boys, ages 11 and 13, were riding their bikes at the intersection of Herbert and Large Streets in the Northwood Section of Northeast Philadelphia.  Both boys were taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital. One boy suffered a serious head injury and both are reported in stable condition.

The police are asking anyone with information about these Philadelphia hit and run accidents to contact the Philadelphia Police Investigations Unit or to call 911.

Fatal Frankford Philadelphia Hit and Run Bicycle Accident

Shortly after midnight on Sunday July 11, 2010 a 41 year old woman was riding her bike in the Frankford section of Philadelphia.  At approximately 12:30 the woman was hit by a car near the intersection of Torresdale Avenue and Adams Avenue.

The woman, who has not yet been identified, was taken to Hahnemann Hospital where she died from her injuries on Sunday.  The driver of the car left the scene of the accident.  However, police located the black Ford Taurus that hit the bicyclist in the 2100 block of Gillingham Street shortly after the accident and officials are talking to the vehicle’s owner as the investigation into this fatal Philadelphia hit and run bicycle accident continues.

What Happens When a Fire Truck, A Police Cruiser and a Bicycle Collide?

Around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, a Philadelphia police car and a fire truck were responding to a fire on Brown Street when they collided with one another.  The accident occurred at 38th Street and Haverford Avenue.

The force of the impact caused the police car to hit a bicyclist.  Both the 45 year old male police officer from the 16th district and the 23 year old bicyclist were taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania with injuries.  Their identities have not yet been released.

Police are investigating what caused this Philadelphia accident which not only resulted in injuries but in the emergency vehicles not reaching their destination.
