Rear End Accident Injures Lehighton Boy

Last Friday, a rear end accident injured a 13 year old Lehighton boy.  Police report that Michael Ubbens of Saylorsburg was travelling northbound on Route 209 around 4 p.m. on January 6, 2011 when he failed to stop in time to avoid hitting an SUV that was waiting to make a left turn.

The boy, who has been identified as Tyler Riggio was taken by Palmerton ambulance to Palmerton Hospital.  Reports indicate that Tyler was released from the hospital after a short stay.  Neither driver was hurt in this Pennsylvania rear end accident.

State Trooper Crashes into Truck in Carbon County

A state trooper is lucky to be alive today after a serious crash in Carbon County, yesterday.  The accident occurred around 1 p.m. on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Kidder Township.  According to officials, the trooper, whose name has not yet been released, is from the Pocono Barracks.

The trooper hit a tractor trailer at mile marker 92.7 on the Northeast Extension.  The roof of his car was sheared off in the accident.  He was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.

The accident remains under investigation and the state police indicate that a press release will be forthcoming that provides more information about this Carbon County accident.
