State Police in Reading Find Driver Reading Newspaper At Time of Crash

Pennsylvania State Police at Reading are reporting that a driver who was reading the newspaper while driving rear ended the car in front of him in Jefferson Township late last month.

According to police, Ronald Gorey of Bethel was reading the paper when he rear ended a car driven by Mark Shirk, also of Bethel, on January 25, 2012. The crash occurred on Route 183 at Solly Lane. Mr. Shirk and Mr. Gorey’s two passengers were reportedly injured in the crash and taken to the hospital where all three were treated and released.

Carlisle Car Crash Sends 2 to Hospital

On Sunday evening January 22, two cars collided on Walnut Bottom Road, near the I 81 interchange. The crash occurred around 8:30 p.m. One person was reportedly trapped in a vehicle until emergency workers arrived. Two people were taken by ambulance to a local hospital. The extent of their injuries is unknown.

Multivehicle Crash Creates Multiple Injures in Northampton County

Several people were injured after a three vehicle crash in Hanover Township last week. The crash occurred on Monday January 16 at Route 512 and Hanoverville Road.

Police report that that a southbound car was attempting to make a left turn into a parking lot when it hit a northbound vehicle. It is unclear how many people were injured in the accident. However, it appears that at least six people were taken to the hospital and that at least two were seriously injured in this Pennsylvania car crash. Two of the victims were believed to be children younger than 10.

Harrisburg Hit and Run Results in Head Trauma Injury

Last week, a Harrisburg woman hit a pedestrian on Emerald Street. The man suffered a serious head trauma and was taken to Hershey Medical Center for treatment.

According to police they witnessed the driver swerving and speeding prior to the collision. An officer witnessed the collision and stayed to help the victim while other officers caught up with the driver. According to the investigating officers, the driver had a disagreement with someone and thought that she was hitting that person’s family member with her car. However, the person she hit was not who she thought he was.

The driver, Geneia Rice, has been charged with numerous crimes including attempted homicide, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, hit and run and at least five traffic violations.

Four Injured After Car Accident Sends Minivan Into Local Bar

Four people were hurt when two cars collided sending one into a North Union Township, Pennsylvania bar last week. A minivan hit the Paradise Restaurant and Bar, located about 40 miles south of Pittsburgh, at about 6 p.m. on Thursday January 19.

Both drivers were taken to area hospitals with injuries. Two of the customers at the bar were also injured and it is unclear whether they were taken to area hospitals. All four of those injured in this Pennsylvania car accident are expected to survive their injuries.

Multivehicle Crash Near Pennsylvania Farm Show

At least one person was injured in a five vehicle crash on I 81 near the exit for the Pennsylvania Farm Show last week. The crash occurred on January 11 around 7:30 a.m.

According to accident reports at least one person suffered a facial injury and had neck pain following the multivehicle wreck. It is unclear whether others were also injured in the crash. Two of the vehicles were able to be driven from the accident scene while the other three were not able to be driven.

Other details about this Pennsylvania car crash have not yet been released.

Perry County Bus Crash Results in Hospitalizations

At least 9 students were injured when their school bus and two other vehicles crashed in Perry county last week. The accident occurred around 7:45 a.m. on Route 74 in Spring Township. One student had to be airlifted to Hershey Medical Center. The other students were taken to area hospitals by ground transportation. The bus was carrying middle and high school students.

Police have not yet said what caused this Pennsylvania accident.

New Years Day Crash Injures Three in Perry County

A car accident in Howe Township injured three people shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Sunday January 1, 2012. According to authorities, a driver failed to see the stop sign on West Short Cut Road at Route 34 and she drove through the stop sign colliding with another vehicle.

Both drivers and a passenger were hurt and all three were taken to Harrisburg Hospital. Two other passengers were not reported injured.

3 Injured in Bethlehem Accident

Three people were injured in a two vehicle Bethlehem accident on Tuesday January 3. At approximately 7:45 p.m. one vehicle flipped over and collided with another vehicle near the intersection of Main Street and W. Union Boulevard.

Two people were taken by ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital Fountain Hill. Relatives of a third person picked him up and transported him to the hospital.

45 Vehicle Pennsylvania Crash Results in 17 Injuries

Winter weather may have started a Western Pennsylvania chain reaction crash that ultimately involved 45 vehicles and injured 17 people on January 2, 2012. The crash occurred on I 80 in Jefferson County around 2:45 p.m. I 80 was closed for approximately 8 hours after the accident.

While only half an inch of snow fell in the area, State Police say that the road was slippery and visibility was limited by snow squalls. State police are continuing to investigate the cause(s) of this serious Pennsylvania accident.
