Lehigh County Rear End Crash Leads to Collision with Ambulance

Monday, February 6th, 2012

On Saturday January 28, a pickup truck rear ended a car on Route 22 in Whitehall Township. After being rear ended, the car was reportedly knocked into the median before it bounced back into the roadway and collided with an ambulance. The pickup truck driver, ambulance driver, and ambulance passengers were not injured in this crash.

 However, the driver of the car who has been identified as Steven Martucci  of Zionsville was injured. Mr. Martucci was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest where he was treated and released. 3 Injured in Bethlehem Accident

Three people were injured in a two vehicle Bethlehem accident on Tuesday January 3. At approximately 7:45 p.m. one vehicle flipped over and collided with another vehicle near the intersection of Main Street and W. Union Boulevard.

Two people were taken by ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital Fountain Hill. Relatives of a third person picked him up and transported him to the hospital.

Bethlehem Rear End Crash Sends One to Hospital

Pennsylvania State Police at Bethlehem report that a 3 vehicle accident occurred in Bethlehem Township around 8 a.m. on Tuesday December 13. The crash occurred on Route 22 West.

According to police 27 year old Nicole Rutt stopped her car because the traffic in front of her was stopped. The driver immediately behind her, Stephen Gutwein-Guenther, also stopped. However, the driver behind Mr. Gutwein-Guenther was not able to stop and John Koenig allegedly hit Mr. Gutwein-Guenther’s car which was pushed into Ms. Rutt’s vehicle.

Mr. Gutwein-Guenther was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital Muhlenberg with injuries. The other drivers were not reported injured. Mr. Koenig was cited for traveling at an unsafe speed after this Bethlehem car accident.

Seven Injured in Allentown Wreck

A November 18, 2011 Allentown car accident injured seven people. The crash occurred shortly before 9 p.m. at the intersection of Linden Street and Eighth Street. Police report that a car was T boned by an SUV. The police are investigating which of the vehicles ran the red light.

Five people had to be extricated from the car by the Allentown Fire Department.

Five of the injured accident victims were taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest and two were taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital Muhlenberg. The injured included a young girl and a two year old baby who may have suffered a head injury in this crash.

Three Girls Hurt in Allentown Accident Earlier This Month

A two car accident injured three girls in Allentown earlier this month. The November 15 crash occurred shortly after 9 p.m. in the 300 block of Basin Street. It is unclear what caused the two cars to collide.

However, three girls reported injuries. A 17 year old driver reported pain in her lower back and knee, a 13 year old passenger reported neck and knee pain and an 11 year old passenger reported a bump on her head and no memory of the crash. All three girls were taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest.

Man Injured in Lehigh County Rear End Accident

On November 14, 2011 Paul Haraputczyk was traveling northbound on Route 222 in Lower Macungie Township. Shortly before 2:45 p.m. he stopped at the traffic light at Krocks Road and was reportedly rear ended by Carlos Hernandez.

Police report that Mr. Hernandez has been cited for careless driving and that Mr. Haraputczyk was injured in the crash. Mr. Haraputcyzk’s passenger, Gabriella Lee, was not reported as injured in this Pennsylvania car accident.

3 Cars Involved in Allentown Wreck

Last Thursday, three vehicles were involved in a significant Allentown accident. The cars crashed around 10 a.m. on October 27, 2011 near Tilghman and Jordan streets.  Two cars had front end damage and an SUV landed on its roof after the impact.

It is currently unclear what caused this Lehigh County car crash and whether there were any injuries reported. Firefighters and police officers responded to this accident.

Four Vehicles Collide in Lehigh County Crash

Four vehicles collided on Route 22 in South Whitehall Township on Monday October 17, 2011. The crash occurred around 3:45 p.m.

Three people were injured in the crash and taken to St. Luke’s Hospital Fountain Hill and Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest. The extent of their injuries was not immediately reported.  The injured have been identified as Paula J. Sellix of Lehighton, Valerie Sellix, also of Lehighton and Lauren Sion of Allentown. Paula Sellix and Lauren Sion were driving two of the vehicles involved in the crash. Valerie Sellix was a passenger.

The other drivers were not reported to be injured in this multivehicle Lehigh County car crash.

Lehigh Valley Crash Leaves Pedestrian Critically Injured

A pedestrian accident critically injured an Allentown man on the evening of October 4, 2011.  The accident occurred on Lehigh Street at Tioga Street.

Police have not yet released the identity of the driver or the pedestrian and report that the investigation into this serious crash is ongoing.

The pedestrian was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest with serious head injuries and was reported to be in critical condition. There are no reports on whether the driver of the car was also injured.

Could Texting and Driving and Driving Under the Influence Have Caused Lehigh County Crash?

According to police, 19 year old Edward Faust Jr. from Germansville was texting and driving and under the influence of a controlled substance when his car went into the path of oncoming traffic on Route 100 last week. The accident occurred shortly before noon on October 7, 2011 on Kistler Road in Lowhill Township.

Police report that Mr. Faust’s car collided with a pickup truck which then collided with another pickup truck.  Mr. Faust, one of the pickup truck drivers, and one of the pickup truck passengers were injured in the crash.  The injured were taken by ambulance to Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest.
