Four percent of Pennsylvania’s population lives in Chester County.  Chester County is one of ten Pennsylvania counties with the most miles of state maintained roadways and the most miles of local roads.  Given the extensive roadways and high population of Chester County, it is no surprise that it is also one of the ten Pennsylvania counties with the most reported traffic accidents and the most reported traffic fatalities.  In 2008, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation reported 4,700 accidents in Chester County.  1,870 of those accidents resulted in injuries and 37 accidents resulted in fatalities.
