How Much Do You Know About Distracted Driving?

Distraction.gov has a new interactive tool called the Distracted Driving Challenge that tests your knowledge about distracted driving laws in your state.   The tool is currently set up to test the user’s knowledge about the cell phone and driving laws in the 8 states which currently ban handheld cell phone use.

While Pennsylvania is not yet one of the states that bans handheld cell phone use, there is a lot of information that Pennsylvanians can learn from this fun and easy to use interactive game.  Just click on one of the orange states and a series of questions will be asked about the cell phone law in that state.  You can learn about how the laws of the different states impact texting and driving, talking and driving, truck drivers, bus drivers, novice drivers and all drivers.

Jackson Township SUV Accident Leaves 1 Dead and 6 Injured

A Sunday afternoon crash resulted in at least one death and six injuries in Lebanon County.  The two car accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Route 501 in Jackson Township, just south of the Berks County line.  The accident victims included a teenage fatality, 2 injured children and 4 injured adults.

According to police reports, 19 year old Ilya Krupenya of Myerstown was driving southbound on Route 501 when his SUV crossed over into the northbound lane and collided head on with an SUV driven by John Sattizahn  of Pine Grove.  Ilya Krupenya was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Mr. Sattizahn and his five passengers were all taken to Hershey Medical Center.  Two of the injured passengers were children, aged 8 and 10.  Their names have not been released and they were reported in fair condition on Monday.  The four adults who were hurt include the driver, John Sattizahn, Dawne Sattizahn, Mark Ketch and Denise Ketch.  As of Monday, three of the adults were in critical condition and one is in serious condition.

The cause of the Lebanon County accident remains under investigation.
