Yesterday morning at around 10 a.m., 2 tires came off a tractor trailer truck on Route 30 in Springettsbury Township. The tires came of the rear right side of the truck that was carrying logs.Â
One of the tires rolled over the median line and hit the driver’s door of an eastbound Mercedes.   The driver was taken to York Hospital with head and neck pain after the accident. Police estimate that the tire was travelling about 50 mph when it hit the Mercedes, injuring the driver and causing damage to the car.
The other tire bounced over the guardrail and landed in a field. It did not cause any injuries.
Police believe that the accident was caused by lug nuts that were not properly fastened between the tires and the axles. The investigation is continuing.
